This trek around the Cordillera Huayhuash is a delight for anyone who enjoys trekking. The walk is in a remote region of Peru north of Lima. Most of the time you are walking in a region with spectacular mountain views and glacial fed lakes.
To begin our trek we fly to Lima, where our bus will be waiting for us for the journey to Huaraz. Huaraz is a major centre for treks and mountaineering in this part of the Andes.
The Cordillera Huayhuash (pronouced "whey - wash") is only about 30Km long but it contains the second highest peak in Peru, Yerapuja 6634m, The trek around the Cordillers Huayhuash takes you over high mountain passes just under 5000m. and some of the most spectacular scenery you can imagine. Most days you camp by trout filled lakes. You get to meet the occasional sheperd and farmers along the way.
For those who wish to visit Machu Picchu, we are offering an add on of an extra 4 days, where we fly from Lima to Cusco - explore the Inca culture on a guided tour through the sacred valley and then make a full day journey to Machupicchu by train and bus to visit this most amazing of Inca Ruins.
