This tour will introduce you to the some of the incredibly diverse cultures which have developed in Asia over the last few thousand years.
Starting with the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City and the Ming Tombs outside of Beijing and finishing with the Taj Mahal and palaces of Rajasthan you will visit such widely differing sights as the Terra Cotta warriors, the Potala palace in Tibet and the busy mediaeval laneways of Kathmandu. After exploring the cultural treasures of Beijing we fly to the ancient capital of Xian, best known nowadays for the famous Terra Cotta warriors discovered buried in the nearby early emperor's tomb.
Lhasa, ancient capital of Tibet, is our next stop; here we visit such famous landmarks as the Potala Palace, home to generations of Dalai Lamas until the exile of the present Dalai Lama. We also visit the most holy temple in Tibet, the Jokhang temple and the Drepung monastery, once the world's largest monastery.
After Lhasa we fly over the major peaks in the Himalayas to Nepal and its capital, Kathmandu. We have two days to experience the unique blend of Hinduism and Buddhism in Kathmandu before flying on to Delhi to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra and the palaces of Jaipur in Rajasthan.
