Darjeeling: My first major trek was along the Singalila ridge for views of Mt. Everest in the Darjeeling, Sikkim region. It offers you a variety that includes a walk through forests, villages and marvellous panoramic views of 4 of the 5 highest mountains in the world. I still enjoy this walk and would recommend it to any one who wants an enjoyable trekking holiday.

Nepal: I have offered the popular Everest Base Camp trek with with a few variations. If you are in the region, it is well worth visiting the three most spectacular valleys in this Khumbu region, including Gokyo and that is what I have done  on this itinerary.

Tibet: There are two marvellous treks that take you to Everest in Tibet. One is to the Khangshung (East Face) of Mt. Everest, and the other,  to the Advance Base Camp of Mt. Everest. The one to Khangshung face is less travelled and is very picturesque. There are few villages, but the landscape is stunning. It is lush and green and in spring the flowers are out in abundance. I would recommend this route for the more experienced trekker – as the tracks in some parts are quite rough.

We operate one trip to the Advance Base Camp every other year – and this gets booked up quite fast – so I suggest you sign up early for it, if it interests you. I have been up three times.  This is possibly the world’s highest walk. You do not need any technical climbing experience. We get to an altitude of 6350m.

The trips we operate are fully supported. You have a guide, camp staff and porterage. All meals are provided on trek. The costs mentioned – do not include international airfares.

My brother Dwarika photographed Tenzing and Hillary when they came down from the  mountain. I have included this picture and that of Tenzing and me in my younger days!  Tenzing was a family friend, who encouraged me to trek. I am pleased that all his trophies he received, are housed in a glass cabinet that I gave this wonderful gentleman.

I am off to Vietnam, Cambodia and Bhutan on 2nd. March, but will reply to any enquires you may have. Please email me at mohan@trekking.com.au with a copy to trekcompany@gmail.com
