| Challenging is the word which everyone uses to describe this, arguably our most strenuous, trek in the spectacular area of the Karakoram range in Pakistan, at the junction of the Godwin-Austin and the the Baltoro Glaciers, rise six peaks over 7800m; included in these is K2 - at 8611m, the second highest mountain in the world.
After flying into Skardu from Islamabad we drive, and sometimes walk because of the poor condition of sections of road, to Thongol from where we start our trek. We follow the Braldo river and the Baltoro glacier to our base camp at Concordia at the junction of the Baltoro, Gasherbrun, Virgin and Godwin Austin glaciers.
On the way, weather permitting, we get superb views of the Trango Towers, the Muztagh Tower. While at Concordia we are surrounded by probably the greatest concentration of major peaks anywhere in the world. After visiting the K2 base camp, and again weather permitting, we will cross Gondogoro-la, 5450m and return to to Skardu along the Hushe valley. The end of our trek is in Hushe itself from here we drive to Skardu then fly back to Islamabad where our trip ends Day 01 Travel to Islamabad Day 02 Travel to Islamabad Day 03 Travel to Islamabad Day 04 Fly to Skardu, if flight cancelled then 24 hour bus journey to Skardu Day 05 Skardu Day 06 Drive to Thongal, 2800m Day 07 commence trek to Korofong, 3100m Day 08 Bardumal, 3200m Day 09 Paiju, 3500m Day 10 Paiju rest day Day 11 Urdukas, 4240m Day 12 Goro, 4500m Day 13 Concordia, 4700m Day 14 Concordia -K2 Base Camp Day 15 K2 Base camp Day 16 Concordia, 4700m Day 17 Ali camp Day 18 Cross the Gondogoro pass, 5450m to Khispang, 4500m Day 19 Shayeshu, 3500m Day 20 Hushe, 3200m Day 21 Drive to Skardu Day 22 Fly to Islamabad, drive if flight cancelled.
