| Travel on a journey that takes you from one end of the Himalaya to the other. On this journey you trek in the dry wilderness region of Ladakh in the north west corner of India. This is amazingly rugged region, that is closed off from the rest of the India for about 6 months when all the road there are snow bound. This has kept the rich Buddhist culture here unspoilt and thriving.
It is only here that 1000 year old paintings of the Tibetan style are still preserved, while those across the border in Tibet have been destroyed. After exploring these unique monasteries and trekking through rugged valleys and villages and with views of snow covered mountains, travel across the Gangetic Plains of India by train before heading off for the picturesque townof Darjeeling. Here the walk is along the Singalila ridge, in a region that is lush and green. You walk through forests of rhododendron and villages, before reaching the ridge, with panoramic views of the world's highest mountains, including Mt. Everest.
