Mohan Das Pradhan who runs The Trekking Company has been an enthusiastic walker since a boy. During his final year at school (St..Joseph's College - Darjeeling) he gave talks at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and organized the first all girls trekking group sponsored by the Institute. He enjoys the company of people and has a network of contacts and friends around the world who occasionally play host to those who travel with us. He speaks five languages and prefers being out there - instead of behind the desk.
As a mountain photographer he trekked extensively in Sikkim, Darjeeling, Nepal, Bhutan and Ladakh before coming to Australia and setting up The Trekking Company.
The Trekking Company has provided him with the opportunity to travel extensively and set up treks in South America, Africa and Tibet in addition to those in the Himalayan region of Sikkim,Darjeeling,Bhutan and Ladakh.

Sheila plays host to the majority of our guests in Nepal and India and occasionally travels to different parts of the world with groups. She shuttles between Kathmandu and Darjeeling to ensure that all the small details that go into making up a smooth trip are in the right place at the right time. She loves people and takes a personal interest in the wellbeing of everyone who travels with us. Having trekked and travelled in almost all the regions we operate trips to - she is an experienced traveller. She often travels to the US and Australia on business trips and to visit family and friends.
Even Sheila could not perform the miracles she does without the team we have formed over the course of the years, comprised of people to whom good humour and reliability are wedded with local knowledge. Some of the core members of our team are, Sanjoy, Sunder, Wangchuk and Kaloo.
If you are arriving by plane in Kolkata in India, chances are you will be met by Sanjoy Bose. There is not much glamour in buying train tickets, organising reliable road transport, or confirming internal airline flights, sometimes at very short notice. Sanjoy manages these chores with ease.
Another three key support members, many would say, the key support staff, are our principal trek leaders, Sunder Sherpa , Wangchuk Sherpa and the all rounder Kaloo Tamang. We would not like to guess how many kilometres these three walk each year; but whether it is saying 'Slowly, slowly!' as they show first-time trekkers the easiest way to climb a steep slope or sitting beside a camp fire swapping stories when the day's trek is through, you will find they are not only excellent trekking guides, but also excellent company.
In addition we have a team of cooks (many trained by Sheila), kitchen hands, and camp staff who have also been chosen for their boundless energy and enthusiasm while preparing meals, setting up camp, and having a genuine interest in your well being.
